Thank you for using our website. Young and Smith were formed in September 1991, by the partners Martin Smith and George Young, with Tracy Morphew now an Associate Partner on board since 1994.
Prior to retiring on 30th March 2006 George Young has been in the licensed trade for 35 years having been publican, area manager, licensing agent and notably one of the founders of the British Institute of Innkeeping.
Martin has been in the licensed trade for 20 years having been a licensee, and licensing agent. Tracy's background was working in a magistrate's court licensing department for 7 years, before joining Young and Smith in 1994.
Young and Smith are specialist licensing conveyancers, market/sell tenanted, leasehold and freehold properties for pub companies, breweries, multiple pub operators and individuals.

Licensing With our specialist knowledge, Young and Smith dealt with some 550 premises licences and 700 personal licence applications leading up to the November 2005 deadline.
Notably, we successfully applied for 384 Unwins premises licenses, and when they went into administration we were appointed to successfully transfer and save the 200 premises licences sold to First Quench Retailing (Threshers) within the 7 day deadline commencing on the 23rd December 2005.

Sales - Tenancy/Leasehold. Our HOUSE LIST [ which is only available in hard copy/sent by post ] contains all the 1st generation tenancies and leases and assignable leases that are available from individuals, pub groups, and breweries who constantly instruct us.
Many individuals, multiples and pub groups are registered to receive details, and this along with the website, and regular advertising, forms our main sources for promotion. Our current leasehold assignments are detailed on this website

Sales - Freehold. Although the licensed trade has been feeling the pinch for many months, activity is buoyant with freehold sales dominated by group acquisitions by Punch, Enterprise and other pub groups.
We have been fortunate to be involved in both group and individual freehold sales, and have a growing list of individuals, small multiple pub operators, pub companies, brewers and property developers waiting for property throughout the country.

Fixtures & Fittings - Listings & Valuations. Our in house valuer has been preparing inventory valuations for over 30 years, and we have the capability to bring a team of valuers together to handle multiple instructions.
